Okay, so there may still be a few on dealer lots, but the MKS is dead. Makes me wonder how much longer the Taurus has.

On another note, used Ecoboost models can be had for under $20k CAD, so there’s that.

On another another note, the refresh looks like a knockoff.

That’s fine, I kinda forgot it existed too

I think Lincoln forgot it existed.

Lincolns “MK” naming convention is the worst. I have no idea what the MKS is supposed to be in comparison to the market (until you said taurus)

The continental has to be based on something. The Taurus seems fine.

What I thought was the MKX was actually the MKT, so I’m with you there.

It would have worked a lot better if they pronounced it “Mark”, which given Lincoln’s history, seems likely to have been the original intent. Then you’d just be remembering one letter instead a bunch of names that all sound basically the same. It still wouldn’t have any meaning though.

I still dig them. Actually prefer them to the Taurus SHO.

Pre face lift it wasn’t that bad looking but the face lift made the vehicle look like a baleine whale

Incorrect. The Continental uses the CD4 platform, whereas the Taurus uses the D3 platform.

Who knows about the Taurus. Ford could make something on the continental platform to replace it, but I would be surprised if they just kept churning out the same thing until sales got too low and then decided that those buyers probably should get an SUV instead anyway.

Is it wrong if I prefer the styling of the one you posted over the new Lincoln fascia?

If my contract job comes with a car service, I don’t care what Lincoln they send ... there is a crossoverish thing that is out there called a Town Car. It’s a bit different than the Town Car we’re used to here in the Big Apple.

My personal favorite part of the whole MK thing was their inability to rename the Navigator due to an (i’m assuming) combination of strongish sales and name recognition.

I dunno man. That stache was pretty awful.

I sort of have a weird soft spot for the MKZ. 400 hp TT V6+ AWD is cool.

Technically, it’s still based on the Chinese Taurus! *grasping*

The continental isn’t even full sized? Sad.

I wouldn’t be as opposed to trump if he went around fixing things like this to make America great again. Less lying about manufacturing, more forcing domestic car makers to react to whims of internet nerds.

Not long. There’s already a new generation of Taurus on sale in China that won’t be coming to the US. Ford’s going to pull the plug pretty soon, they’re keeping it around mainly for fleets as it is. The Fusion Sport is supposed to be the brand’s new flagship sedan.

Ecoboost? When I was looking I would always see the high mileage ones having turbo problems or carbon buildup issues.

$16k , pardon me. Only 125,000 kilometres on it, too. And yes, it has the Ecoboost.

Kinja'd!!! theandysho - drives a SHO > CB

I love my SHO, but if you’re looking for one on the pre-owned market:

1. Walk away if - Be sure to look for leaking rear diffs and general powertrain issues like failing output shaft seals, and check the service history for replacement of oil lines for the turbos. Had my front and rear turbo blow the banjo bolts at 55k, had them replaced under CPO warranty. Otherwise, fab up your own oil lines or be prepared to drop at least $2k USD when a turbo burns out and you need to take it somewhere.

2. Gremlins you can’t avoid due to passage of time - You may have issues with the gen 1 SYNC system randomly bricking and they come standard on SHO / higher end MKS. Sunroof flare may become worn during regular use and need lubricated or shaved to reduce chance of jamming. Ambient LED pods fail and tearing the whole door apart to replace them is a PITA.

3. All Taurus / MKS - Heater blend doors for dual climate strip out and jam in the full heat / full cold position. Leaks may occur at spoiler mount and cause your trunk to flood. Some paint colors were limited run, so touch-up can be more of a scavenger hunt.

4. Get a tune and invest in proper parts - Opinions vary, but I’ve had the Stage IV+ tune from Livernois on my car for 50k miles with no issues. Add tune plus some colder plugs, a CAI, and an exhaust for an easy additional 50-100 WHP depending on environmental conditions. The trans and diffs are pretty robust if you don’t go overboard with intentions.

5. Get better tires - Oh PLEASE go buy better tires. The SHO / MKS mostly came on Michelin Primacies and while they’re great for highway use, a set of proper summerish skins will wake up the chassis. I run on Goodyear RSA2s and they’re a significant improvement in all conditions but snow / ice. Some SHOs come with the F1 Supercars as OEM but I’d recommend avoiding them from personal experience - tread life is awful and they don’t have nearly enough wet performance for a DD car.
